Parents of Frank Hobbs Elementary

Your school, your community.

Thank You Gordon Head Lions Club

The Frank Hobbs staff and students would like to say a big thank you to the Lion’s Club for their generous donation to our PAC to help fund technology in our school. The details of the donation and an overview of the wonderful opportunities provided by the new technology can be found here.

As at April 2017, just over $50,000 in PAC funds have been set aside for a new playground.

One of our kindergarten parents talks to us about why she shops at Peppers…and how easy it is to help the school.

Peppers Feb 2015

  • Why do you shop at Peppers? I like that Peppers is small and locally owned. Their location in the village is very convenient. I also like the variety and selection of products.
  • Do you find the staff friendly and helpful? Yes. They are always willing to answer questions and if they do not carry a product, they are willing to bring it in for you.
  • Do you pre-purchase Peppers gift cards, or just pay as you go at the till? The owners of Peppers are very generous with their support of local groups and charities. I am building a habit of purchasing a gift card for the amount of my groceries when I am up at the till – a percentage of my shopping total is then donated to Frank Hobbs every time I shop!
  • Do you think people know how easy it is to donate to the school when shopping at Peppers? No! But if they do choose to shop at Peppers, it is definitely worth doing. All of our small contributions soon add up. Before you know it, there’s a few thousand dollars to help the school.

Don’t forget to say “I want to put my total onto a gift card for Frank Hobbs” when paying at the till at Peppers.

5% of your total grocery bill amount goes to the school…’s that easy!

Thank you to everyone who purchased a Save Around Coupon Book this year. The fundraiser has again been a great success with over $1,000 raised for our school. Our fundraising efforts have meant we have been able to increase PAC teacher classroom funds this year.

Thanks to our amazing Frank Hobbs families, we’ve also been able to enable two new initiatives this school year. At the PAC general meeting on Monday 3rd November, we agreed to help with funding of a ‘World Hoop Dancer, Motivational Speaker and Entertainer’ who will come to the school in the Spring of 2015. The dancer will enable the children to learn about Aboriginal culture, values and dance. There will be a performance for all the students, with additional workshops for grades 1 – 5. Thank you to all our families for contributing funds for this unique learning experience!

At the PAC meeting in November, we also agreed to use funds to finance the transportation of the school’s choir by school bus to events throughout the district during the month of December. We have 63 children taking part in the choir this year, so this will enable lots of happy memories…..and also help to “go green” by avoiding multiple individual car journeys. Thank you to everyone who has helped with fundraising efforts and supporting school events for making this possible.

Thank you to everyone who generously gave a donation to The Mustard Seed at the Winterfest and also at the school winter concert. Monetary donations amounted to $143.85 which was given to The Mustard Seed just before Christmas, along with the amazing amount of non-perishable donations (seven full boxes!). A separate donation of $353.02 was also given to The Mustard Seed. This amount had been previously set aside for a Christmas hamper for a family in need, and is something The Mustard Seed have kindly arranged, on behalf of the PAC.
